Dream of cuddling cats for your profession? Join the queue for this top job!

Forget Hollywood glamour or the Wall Street trading floor, cat cuddling is where it's at

In terms of the best jobs ever created, this has to be right up there. And a cafe in Manchester is advertising for a cat nanny.

No, you’re not dreaming and the world probably hasn’t gone completely mad yet, but life has potentially just got a whole lot more interesting for animal lovers and dodgers of ‘serious’ office jobs. If you love cuddling moggies and believe that you have special aptitudes with our feline friends, then a wonderful career could be awaiting you.

Cat cafes are a relatively new phenomenon but they are catching on fast, with a handful of cat-themed cafes opening up where animal charities partner with cafes to ensure that their rescue animals get plenty of human affection and interaction. And of course, many of the delighted and previously abandoned pets find themselves new homes into the bargain.

Founders Sophie and Ellie Close are advertising for a cafe manager and assistant cafe manager, barista, front of house serving staff, and the job we all want – the cat nanny. The advert is on Facebook and interest is expected to be… well, insanely high – and human claws are likely to be out as competition heats up.

Don’t expect to be earning big bucks at £8 an hour, but the job satisfaction will suit you purrfectly, with grooming, feeding and playing with the star attractions being features of your working day. Expect to enjoy the odd refreshments into the bargain too. Saucer of milk anyone?

The advert says that the successful moggy-sitter will also be there to support and encourage lots of friendly interaction between human tea drinkers and feline friends, checking that house rules are followed. There are a few rather less glamorous tasks such as emptying litter trays and washing bedding.

To keep the cats engaged and on top form, their cat-sitter will also be acting as an intellectual development coach, regularly re-arranging furniture and installing new games to keep the pet-friendly environment fresh and new for even the most discerning of felines.

Be prepared to work long hours on a shift pattern, as the cafe is open from 9am – 9pm every day.

The sisters behind the venture decided to open up their dream cafe last year and have received huge support on Facebook and other social media sites. For those familiar with Manchester, it will not be a surprise to know that the cafe will be opening in Hipster heaven, the Northern Quarter.

Get onto Facebook to apply by the 29th April and show that you have the right skills and cat-itude (sorry) for the job.
