New research has revealed that New Year crash diets are costing UK businesses a staggering £7.83bn in Q1 alone.

More than 6 million Brits start a New Year diet to drop a belt size or two, but in the quest to get Beach Body Ready these fad fitness and diet regimes are having a huge detrimental effect on the health of the British workforce.

The research carried out by Expert Market revealed:

  • A 1.9% fall in UK productivity each year
  • 11% more sick days in Q1
  • A £34m loss alone on the 1stof February
