Googling prospective employees is pretty common practise these days, prior to inviting candidates to come in for an interview. But now the tech giant is working on a new job site project, Google Hire which will reveal perhaps a little too much about their new recruits.
Early reports suggest it will be available through your Google account and act as a recruitment tool similar to LinkedIn. If this is the case it will link things like your YouTube account and search history with any job applications, enabling employers to have a pretty clear view of what you’ve been up to online.
Technology website Axios reports that the tool is currently being tested, and that it will let employers post job listings, and accept and manage applications.
The job site was apparently developed by Google’s enterprise and cloud division, headed up by Diane Greene, whose start-up was acquired by Google in 2015.
The login page is now live, however as the platform hasn’t officially been announced it’s not yet possible to actually view the website.
