Triumph Group are to create 60 new jobs as it creates new facilities in North Wales60 highly skilled jobs are to be created in North Wales after aerospace firm Triumph Group announced a multi-million pound investment plan in new facilities.
The First Minister for Wales, Carwyn Jones, confirmed the project in the US where he held talks with senior executives of Triumph at its headquarters in Pennsylvania.
The investment will mean that Triumph’s specialist UK aerospace centre in Deeside will undergo major expansion.
Due to the acquisition of the GE Actuation business last year, Triumph has secured a multi-million pound annual contract to supply Airbus with actuation components for aircraft landing gear and will expand its specialist aerospace centre in the Deeside Enterprise Zone.
Secured with Welsh Government support, the new facility will see work move from China to North Wales, and see the workforce doubling to more than 100 with the creation of over 60 new highly skilled jobs at the company’s plant.
The aerospace industry is a priority economic sector in Wales which led the First Minister to describe the investment as great news for Triumph’s Deeside facility and a major boost for the aerospace industry.
The £5m investment in new facilities and equipment is being backed with nearly £400,000 in business finance from the Welsh Government.
The result of the investment will see the Deeside plant become the supplier of hydraulic actuation systems used in the landing gear for the Airbus A380 and A320 aircraft.
