More enterprise in schools says Now Education

Young people who are entering into work lack the basic skills to thrive within the workplace according to BCC report.

Alex Westworth, Director at Now Education, argues that teaching young children in primary schools about enterprise is vital in equipping them with the skills to succeed later in life.

There has been a general consensus among business leaders this year that young people who are entering into work lack the basic skills to thrive within the workplace according to a report produced by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) this month.

“The report produced this month by the BCC further cements the need for businesses to work in collaboration with education providers to ensure that pupils are reaching their full potential. As a former business teacher, I understand how committed teachers are to developing pupils and implementing new ways to learn.”

The challenge in collaboration with Brenda Hyde of Hyde Consultancy, seeks to encourage entrepreneurial flair in children and to instill aspirational and ambitious spirit. The title for this year’s challenge is ‘A Very Brainy Business’, children will need to incorporate their business idea into the school curriculum, and will be supported by Brenda on their projects.

The challenge is open to receive entries from primary schools across the West Midlands. Finalist will receive cash prizes of £1,000, £500 and £250 to be invested into the winning schools, so get planning!
