Netflix will pay you to take Instagram snapshots

There may be some jobs in journalism that could be mistaken for being on holiday, but Netflix's latest openings are hard to top

There may be some great jobs in journalism that could be mistaken for being on holiday, but it appears that Netflix’s latest openings are going to be hard to top. The movie and TV streaming provider is hiring people to travel around Europe, take some photographs and post them on Instagram.

As long as they are over 21, have a mobile device that takes photos and a public Instagram account, it appears that just about anyone is eligible to apply. Applying couldn’t be simpler either – all you have to do is hashtag three of your original photos on Instagram with #grammasters3.

What kind of pictures is Netflix looking for? The company says the photos should portray whatever you are interested in or passionate about. Since the job spec says Netflix is looking for TV and movie fans who are talented at taking pictures, you can work out the type of material expected. An opening such as this is likely to attract a huge number of applicants; therefore, you will need to make sure you provide the company with your very best photos.

The job lasts for just a fortnight. The successful candidates will be visit and take photographs of various locations and sets from popular movies and TV series in Europe, with all travel arrangements taken care of by Netflix. Naturally, perks of the job will include the chance to spend some time on the set of some of Netflix’s top series, such as Sense8. The pay is also good – $2,000 (over £1,400) per week!

The title of the job on offer is ‘Grammaster’ and the purpose of the role is to help pad out Netflix’s social profile online. The Grammaster project was a great success when it was launched in the US last year and now the company is expanding it by hiring more Grammasters to cover movie and TV locations across the world.

Is this gig really money for nothing? If you are passionate about visiting and taking pictures of iconic movie locations in your spare time, you may well think so. What better than to spend a two-week break from work doing what you love and posting your pictures on Instagram for the equivalent of $4,000?

If this sounds like the job for you, you need to hurry – applications for the three European Grammaster openings close on 6 March 2016.
