We take a look at 5 of the top paying graduate employers according to The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers.
Aldi (retail)
Aldi expects graduates to work a 50-hour week, but rewards them generously with a package that puts other higher profile employers in the shade. The pay is £42,000, rising to £70,000 after four years. Other benefits include an Audi A4. Requirements are a 2:1 degree, at least 240 UCAS points from your top three A-levels and a driving licence.
European Commission (public sector)
The European Commission pays its graduates £41,500, in addition to various extras. Benefits include international travel, courses in the 24 official languages of the EU, health care and relocation to Brussels or Luxembourg. Requirements are a good university degree and excellent knowledge of a second EU language as well as English. A third language will be necessary for promotion.
Lidl (retail) (area manager scheme)
Lidl’s area manager scheme pays its graduates a salary of £38,000. They also receive a fully expensed company car and between 30-35 days holiday per year. To be eligible for the scheme, you’ll need to be degree educated and have experience of managing people. You’ll also require a full driving licence.
Clifford Chance, (law)
For a first year trainee at Clifford Chance – a multinational law firm headquartered in London – the salary is £42,000. This rises to £70,000 for a fully qualified lawyer. Extras include a dental plan, gym membership and international secondments. Graduates don’t need to have studied law to apply to the company. For the right candidates, the firm will pay for you to take the graduate diploma in law (GDL) and then the legal practice course (LPC).
Newton Europe, (consulting)
Newton Europe’s new starters receive a salary of £39,000, as well as a £3,000 sign-on bonus and a company car. Requirements are a degree from a ‘top university’, preferably in engineering, science, mathematics or business. The company favours graduates who are able to speak a foreign language.
