One of the UK’s biggest employment sites, CV-Library, is reporting a 5.5% year-on-year rise in advertised salaries for professional and white collar jobs in Liverpool, well above the national average of 2%.
Using data from its own files, CV-Library said the rise in April was the fourth-biggest out of all the major UK cities, only bettered by Glasgow, Brighton and Cardiff which saw salary rises compared to last April of 13.9%, 12.3% and 9.6% respectively.
Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said: “It’s great to see that employers across Liverpool are remaining positive in the face of ongoing uncertainty and that many are continuing to invest in their recruitment efforts.
“With salaries rising across the city, the data suggests that competition to secure the top talent isn’t letting up any time soon.”
Advertised jobs were also on the rise, increasing by 22.5% year-on-year. That said, candidate appetite was not keeping pace with employer demand, with application rates dropping by 11.2% when compared with data from April 2017.
Mr Biggins added: “Last month’s ONS employment figures also revealed that unemployment rates had dropped once again, suggesting that professionals are not feeling confident enough to move around the job market right now.”
