A metal fabrication company in Lancashire has announced a £500,000 expansion plan which is set to create 25 new jobs.

A metal fabrication company in Lancashire has announced a £500,000 expansion plan which is set to create 25 new jobs.

The WEC Group, based in Darwin, is to invest in its powder coating division to set up a new arm of the company which will offer sub-contract powder coating services across the country.

The firm say that the WEC Powder Coating Division has been launched in order to further the group’s ambitions of becoming a ‘one-stop-shop’ for the company’s engineering services, which include laser and waterjet cutting, metalwork and fabrication.

The new investment in the technology is set to enable the company to offer a power coating service to its customers in a number of industries, including aerospace and nuclear.

The commercial group director, Wayne Wild, said: “We are proud to be one of the very few companies in the UK that can offer our whole range of services in-house.

“The new powder coating division allows us to do everything under one roof, improving lead times and reducing transport costs.”

“We continue to invest in our workforce as we look to continue our growth. Job creation is important to us and the new division could potentially create a further 25 new jobs.”

The WEC Group has suggested that further investments across is business are in the pipeline.

The group is one of the largest engineering and fabrication companies in the UK, with a turnover of more than £35 million and more than 400 employees in Darwen, Blackburn, Merseyside and Yorkshire.
