What are the happiest jobs in the UK?

Some of the higher-ranking jobs on the list may have lower satisfaction scores than those lower down

Job happiness can be based on a number of factors; for example, salary, employee satisfaction and potential career opportunities all need to be considered. Glassdoor is one jobs website that has attempted to rank the happiest jobs in the UK for 2018. If you are looking for a job in one of these industries, you will also want to know how many vacancies are available.

10. Project manager

9. Business analyst

Business analysts work within an organisation to solve problems and identify areas to be improved. They have a median base salary of £39,000 and a job satisfaction rating of 3.7.

8. Commercial manager

7. Contract manager

6. HR manager

In a smaller company, an HR manager may be in charge of all human resources-related issues; in larger companies, they may report to an HR director. Either way, they help to manage people. The median base salary is £45,750 and the job satisfaction rating is 4.2.

5. Product manager

Product managers manage everything from market research to product requirements and overall budgets. Their median base salary is £52,000 and the job satisfaction rating is 3.7.

3. Audit manager

The audit manager oversees internal audits. Their recommendations can lead to changes in policies, systems and structures, including other employee roles. They have a median base salary of £55,000 and Glassdoor gives them a job satisfaction rating of 4.3.

2. Operations manager

This is one of the most senior roles on the list and mostly involves overseeing the production/provision of services. This is vital in maintaining a smooth-running company that satisfies its customers. The median base salary is £42,000 and the job satisfaction rating is 4.0.

1. Marketing manager

As you might expect, a marketing manager oversees marketing campaigns and activities and monitors results. With a median base salary of £42,000 and a job satisfaction rating of 4.0, it tops Glassdoors list.

Some of the higher-ranking jobs on the list may have lower satisfaction scores than those lower down. This is because Glassdoor considered other factors – such as whether there were vacancies available in the profession – when calculating overall placement; however, this list does provide an indicator of which jobs are most likely to give their employees satisfaction in their work.
