During a talk entitled ‘Unlocking the investment potential of Manchester and Liverpool’, Sir Howard emphasised the importance of creating critical mass areas – advocating for “connectivity between core northern cities” and urging delegates to look east for inspiration towards Germany, whose transport model he praised.
“The single biggest asset across both Manchester and Liverpool is people,” he said.
“How we skill them, support them and how we help them to achieve their best life chances is crucial.”
The MIPIM Awards were presented at the four-day conference last night, with Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park being awarded the Special Jury Prize.
