VHR conducted a survey of 500 candidates, and found that over half of them used a recruitment agency to find work, which may be why 42% said they found getting work easy.
Surprisingly, for 88% of respondents, money wasn’t the most pressing issue when it came to finding a new job. The most important factor was communication with their recruitment consultant, candidates valued help with interview preparation and reassurance regarding their place in the recruitment process.
As poor communication will cause candidates to look for jobs elsewhere, so maintaining good relationships and a clear level of transparency are vital in recruitment.
Almost a quarter (24%) of candidates said that having a good relationship with their recruitment agency was most important to them, as they could be using the agency’s services for years. Close relationships allow recruiters to know more about their candidates, what their skills are, and how they’d like their career to progress. Over time this can lead to more satisfied candidates, and a higher success rate for recruiters.
Over a quarter of respondents (26%) said that a specialism in their career or industry was the most important factor in finding a job, as the recruiter will have a deeper understanding of how the candidate’s industry works and can provide insight into new trends.
Going forward, recruitment companies should focus on building close relationships and practicing consistent communication.
Excellent candidate service includes developing specialist industry insight to help candidates climb their career ladders and ensure the very best recruitment experience.
