Luton airport creates over 400 new jobs as part of £110m expansion

Recent jobs fair showcased job opportunities in and around London Luton Airport (LLA) as part of its £110m transformation works

LLA partnered with Luton Borough Council to run the event, bringing together firms looking to recruit new staff for approx. 400 current vacancies.

The £110m expansion includes the redevelopment of its terminal and will be complemented by a proposed £200m light rail link, bringing passengers in from Central London in a shorter travel time than to Gatwick or Heathrow.

The ambitious project is also set to increase the number of airport employees and its supply chain to 23,000 by 2030.

Following the careers event, Chika Austin, Community Relations Executive at LLA, commented: “Our £110million transformation isn’t just about improving passengers’ experience – we also want local residents to share in our success.“

“The fair provided a great opportunity for local people to get to know the wide range of employers at LLA. With over 400 roles on offer for immediate starts, the event proved a fantastic opportunity for local job-seekers to speak directly to local employers.

“After such a successful event, we’re looking forward to welcoming a host of new faces at the airport embarking on exciting new careers.”
