New LinkedIn feature now stops bosses from seeing their employee’s job searches

LinkedIn has finally added the Open Candidates feature, allowing users to job search without alerting their employers

Open Candidates is a new feature that makes it easier for jobseekers to connect with their dream job by privately notifying recruiters that they’re open to new job opportunities. Users can specify the types of companies and roles they are most interested in and be easily found by the hundreds of thousands of recruiters who use LinkedIn to find great professional talent.

Once you’ve completed the short online form, information won’t be visible to employers and, usefully, it also won’t be visible to affiliated companies.

When the Open Candidates feature is activated, it will only stay live for 3 months to ensure that only users who have recently expressed interest in being contacted will be visible.

For recruiters using LinkedIn’s paid Recruiter app, suitable candidates who have marked themselves as open to being contacted will appear in under a new spotlight tab, making it easier for recruiters to find people likely to respond to their attempts at making contact.

LinkedIn is rolling out a number of new features including more detailed company pages, giving businesses a better platform to express their story, values and the kind of people they’re looking for as well as highlighting current vacancies within their organisations.

Not only will this make it easier for companies to show who they are and what they’re looking for, it’ll allow job seekers to determine whether or not they’d be a good fit within the company.

By adding the feature to make job searching more private, LinkedIn is solving a big problem for those already in employment but looking for new opportunities.  This also paves the way for recruiters to filter out potential candidates by highlighting who is actively seeking work and would be open to discussion about potential jobs within their industries.
