Dream role – getting paid to drink beer? Hungry Horse seeks pub-licist to drink beer and get paid for it

Drinking beer, attempting pub quizzes and playing pool – and being paid for the privilege

The Hungry Horse pub chain, which has 39 establishments across the UK, is offering a £500p/m salary for a ‘pub-licist’ to sample their latest drink selection and pay regular visits to their local establishment to provide feedback and recommendations to help make their pub the best in the country.

Applicants, says the job ad, should know their cask from their craft, be a pro at pub quizzes and be a key player in pub sports tournaments.

It adds: “The ultimate pub-lover will be put through their paces to ensure they get the most out of their role and help to make their local Hungry Horse stand out from the competition.”

Applications for the role close on 13 November and during the process, hopefuls will have to explain why they have what it takes to sample the menu, sip the drinks selection and immerse themselves into the activities enjoyed by their local pub-going community.

Penny Smith, general manager at the Mallard, a Hungry Horse pub in Doncaster, said: “Nothing beats the atmosphere and camaraderie of a local pub, and it really is the guests who make it such a great place to be.”
