Control Systems Company to create 50 new jobs in Great Yarmouth

50 jobs are set to be created as part of plans to build a new £3m facility

A business which supplies hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems to the oil and gas industry has revealed plans to build a new £3m facility at a business park in Great Yarmouth – almost doubling its existing base in the area.

Specialised Management Services has also purchased adjacent land for future expansion, with the firm saying that the expansion would allow the company to meet existing orders and introduce new product lines to its services.

50 jobs are set to be created at the new site, which has enterprise zone status. The firm, which is owned by the Alderley Group, added construction work is set to begin before the end of November 2014.

The managing director of Specialised Management Services, Dave Howlett, said: “This investment by the Alderley Group underpins an ongoing support and commitment to the growth and development of SMS and will help strengthen SMS’ position and expand its offering to the oil and gas industry worldwide.

“We have a strong and talented pool of people that have helped us achieve our current success and, with larger production facilities, we as a team look forward to continuing our expansion in order to meet the rising global demand for our products and services.”

The leader of the Great Yarmouth Borough Council welcomed the company’s expansion plan by saying it was a “huge vote of confidence” in Great Yarmouth.
