LinkedIn says it can find copies of your ‘rockstar’ employee

LinkedIn claims it can find potential hires that are doppelgangers of your rockstar staff or candidates

Cloning your best candidates or employees might be a dream you often have, and while technology might not be close enough yet LinkedIn claims it can give you the next best thing – finding potential hires that are doppelgangers of your rockstar staff.

Writing in a blogpost announcing an update of their Recruiter tool, Eduardo Vivas, LinkedIn’s head of talent solutions, said: “Countless recruiters told us hiring managers often say ‘I don’t know what my search criteria is, but this rockstar on my team is exactly what I’m looking for’.

“Now all you need to do is enter your rockstar employee’s name into the search field, select their profile, and LinkedIn Recruiter will automatically provide you with a list of similar members.”

He added that while this could lead to identikit teams, recruiters could profile employees with diverse characteristics if they wanted to ensure they included different candidate profiles.

Vivas stated: “For example, recruiters can search for members who attended a predominantly Hispanic college, or belong to a LinkedIn Group for African-American software engineers.”

Recruiters don’t have to be too worried about their jobs just yet, as they haven’t developed a robot that will take your job, as this is merely an enhanced search function that could make lives easier.

While Vivas assumes that what makes your top employees so special will be captured in their LinkedIn profile, it won’t be able to figure out how to capture the ‘je ne sais quoi’ on paper yet.
