Are you on the hunt for a new job this year?

Alan Sugar has given some top tips on how to succeed in business, as he looks for new candidates for the next series of the Apprentice.

Lord Sugar stated that although personality is important in the business world, but essentially it’s the ‘mixture of a good personality, good business acumen, determination and a solid business plan’ that makes the cut.

When asked what the worst type of application would include, Sugar stressed that a budding entrepreneur with no experience, no real ideas or plans would be the wrong type of candidate.  He is looking for someone who has experience within their field, who knows what they’re doing, and who he will mentor, invest in and ‘keep on the straight and narrow.’

CV’s can give a false impression, said Sugar and could come across as either positive or negative depending on your writing – this could, unbeknown to you,  portray a character who wouldn’t be suitable for the opportunity so he advises to not ‘flower up your CV’ and to ‘get straight to the point in a concise, precise format.’
