Do you fancy getting paid to be a spa tester?

The final date for applications is 31 May and the winner will be announced on 3 June 2019

For many people, a dream job would be getting paid to test out some of the best spas in the country; for someone, it will become a reality this summer. This advertisement evidences some of the ways in which recruitment may be changing to appeal to the social media savvy.

The company SpaSeekers has been advertising for a new official spa tester. This exciting opportunity does not come with mountains of boring paperwork; instead, each visit is required to be shared on social media.

As a specialist in booking spa visits, SpaSeekers wants someone to visit some of the top spa venues in the UK and share exactly what makes them so special. The successful candidate will be assigned four locations, which will be as close to their home address as possible, and the visits will need to be completed between Monday and Thursday in July and August. At the end of September, with all visits completed, the lucky candidate will receive £500.

This is obviously not a full-time job opportunity but it is potentially a very clever strategy from SpaSeekers. It will receive free advertising from the job becoming a news story in itself; in addition, for a relatively low outlay, it will reach social media users who may otherwise not have heard of the company.

Each day spent swimming in infinity pools, relaxing in hot tubs and indulging in a spa treatment will pay £125, which is a pretty good way to spend four days in the summer!

Even the application process has a different approach to more formal job searches. SpaSeekers has requested that candidates share their favourite holiday photos on social media, such as an image of the applicant enjoying a sunset swim, drinking a fruity cocktail or strolling in the surf on a sunny beach. When posting on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, applicants are requested to tag the company @SpaSeekers and use the hashtag #dreamsummerjob.

The successful candidate will receive a VIP pass for each day at a different spa. This pass will allow unlimited use of facilities and at least one free spa treatment per visit; in addition, each visit will include lunch, tea and coffee throughout the day and even two complimentary glasses of champagne. The spas will provide towels, robes and slippers as required.

Whilst visiting the spas, the successful candidate will be required to post videos and photos using the same hashtag #dreamsummerjob and tagging @SpaSeekers. The final date for applications is 31 May and the winner will be announced on 3 June 2019.
